htaccess doesn't work

htaccess doesn't work

Postby homer004 » Sun May 24, 2009 6:36 pm

Hello,

this is my first question to freeunix.
I've alreay setted up my homepage and it really worked simple and fast.

Now, I've wanted to protect one folder with .htaccess. I've written both files in a text editor and uploaded it to my new folder in my webpace.
When I now open the folder in my browser, I'm asked for my username and password. I type it in, but it takes no effect. But the usernae and password are correct.

What am I doing wrong, or isn't it possible to use .htaccess in general?

Thanks in forward.

It works quiet fine for me!
Try a .htacess generator, like this (german) one:
http://www.fueralles.de/htaccess-Generator.html

The path you have to specify is
/system/wwwprojects/freeunix/users/user/folder to protect/

Thank you! Now it works great! I've specified the wrong path.
